“I had been looking on the high street for an engagement ring for quite some time. I knew that I wanted a pear shaped Diamond around 1ct in weight but wasn’t really confident enough to just make a decision. Matthew steadily guided me through the options. “Working with the team at Northern Star has been the highlight of our pre wedding plans. I had four rings that had belonged to my late Grandmother with different sized stones, all beautiful but resigned to a box in the cupboard either because they didn’t quite fit or because I didn’t like the setting/style. I also had an idea of what I wanted for my own engagement and wedding rings and I knew I didn’t want to choose rings from a chain of jewellers on the high street. I also had a budget so I hoped that by utilising diamonds I already had I could attain my dream rings without breaking the bank! Matthew did the rest! “Being a practical person, I wanted an engagement ring that could be worn every day, something unusual, beautiful but not too ornate. I liked the idea of a ring with a yellow stone with gold band that would give an overall gold appearance but I couldn’t decide on an exact design. Using his experience and expertise, Matthew carefully advised and helped me to narrow down my widely varying ideas for designs (I literally arrived with thirty odd printed off images!) Choosing the stone from various ones that Mathew had sourced was a very interesting and an amazing experience and once again Mathew proved to be a fountain of knowledge. Mathew was always mindful of our budget and his friendly down to earth manner made him so easy to talk to. Seeing the CAD design was so helpful in enabling me to visualise how the ring would finally look. When I saw my ring for the first time, I was completely stunned and speechless, so much so, I had to sit down! I just couldn’t find the words to describe its beauty and I can honestly say it was so much more than I’d ever hoped or dreamed of. I love wearing it and have so many compliments from other people.
